Great article!! Nice to have both sides to something for a change, in general! I have always let my chickens do it the way THEY were created. I still get about 4 eggs a day out of 13 hens... and I do have Easter Eggers. But if I didn't get any... that's OK too!! People that breed horses do the...

Hey Northerners: What is the absolute coldest air temps your chickens have experienced happily!

Hi Bev!! Our worse nightmares are coyotes!! They took my Llasha Opso!! I will never forget that, I am still upset and that was October 2012. The altitude for bears has to be higher...we are too low. Recently my friend that runs cattle on our property said not far up the road form us... her...

Hey Northerners: What is the absolute coldest air temps your chickens have experienced happily!

We live in Central Calif. 35 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite Nat'l Pk. We have been hit with some cold weather for us... we are only 1,100 ft. level and we got snow and the ground still has patches that haven't melted in 3 days. Training/Teaching a dog about chickens

Totally agree with shock collars. Not any different then horse learning to be fenced by a hot wire... they quickly learn not to go near it. The dogs will learn also, but they should have good training to key words, also so they respnd to the owner.

Not sure where they will go when bad weather gets here! There is a hay barn they could go in if they are...

How do I keep birds out of my coop?

I love the CD answers...made me laugh, I bet those would work great in the pitch of a roof for wood peckers!! I need to try it, except I hate going up on ladders!!! I was wondering rachaelakers, if you could divide your bottom portion of the front door. So, another piece of wood framing, only...

newbie...I keep getting different answers & so confused

I don't use any cloth material, since I used the chicken coupe and it's yard for a while for rasing a few goats, it has t-posts in the corners and a heavy guage wire all around. But for the baby chicks so they couldn't get out, I added close guage chicken wire all on the inside.
