(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yes and No. I have had chickens on and off for 20+ years. Have had a couple turkeys and a few ducks.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I have one Bantam hen, she was a left over from a renter we had and he couldn't find her or catch her. I had one rooster wandering around, so they became "friends" and had 6 babies (one had died) I recently ordered 15 chicks (profile pic) and they are about 3 mos. old.

(3) What breeds do you have?

The rooster is a Rhode Island Red, his "chicks" are mixed with the Bantam hen, I ordered 3 each or Red Island Red's, Plymouth Rock's, Australorp's, Speckled Wyandotte's, Ameraucana's.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

On Face Book, off to the right, there was a little ad and I click on it. I love it!!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I have 6 Paint horses. Had as many as 11 at one time and reduced the herd (lost one to colic). Photography and GRANDKIDS. My daughter has a girl 16, and 13 and son 9 AND is expecting with her fiancée and girl in August!!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have been married to my 2nd husband for 27 yrs. I have 2 kids, he had 3. None together. We worked at the same place when we met. We HAVE ownED a property management business together with his son & wife 20 yrs. It is located 260 miles from where we live, so we are only home, every other week and the office the opposite!

We have 6 horses, 2 cows, currently with calves, 10 doves/3 cockatiels in outside aviary, 4 dogs (2 Border Collies, brothers and 2 Dachshund/mixes) and 7 cats that mostly stay outside but everyone uses a dog door access for inside protection and food. One of those 7 cats, is a stray and I don't even know what sex it is, but comes in to the food feeder!! Two parrots. AND my chickens!! We are very busy and catching up with my house is a task at best, since I am only home 1/2 the time! We have people on the ranch (renters) that help with the horses feeding, and make sure dogs/cats have food/water and the various birds. It works, but is exhausting and we want to retire.... yesterday! My hubby is 73 and I'm 65!!
