The past weeks my 4 chickens tend to sleep on top of their coops. I have 2 coops able to fit 2 grown chickens.
Would I have to keep the chickens locked in for a few days to help train them again or is there a better solution to this issue?
For about over a month or two I had introduced a duo of younger chickens to my duo of older chickens and at first it was bloody but after being separated by a barrier where they can see each other for a month there is now normal pecking order behaviors with even the hens ignoring them sometimes...
Thank you! I have checked on it this morning and she is more talkative and active than yesterday. I will keep an eye out to find any continuing symptoms.
The Sapphire Splash in the background is likely to be the same age as the buff orp since I bought them together. (If that helps to identify the gender in any way.)
The past two days my buff Orpington pullet has been somewhat lethargic. A few days ago she had got attacked by my two older hens to the point she had to play dead. Luckily I came to save her but the only noticeable wounds were on her face. I had also come to notice blood spots from within the...
I have just been tested positive for COVID-19 and my main concern is if there’s a possibility of me transmitting the virus onto my backyard chickens. Is it possible for them to get sick or am I able to feed and water them without fear of getting them sick?
I have recently put my chicks into a spare coop separate from my older hens and they prefer to sleep right at the entrance of the coop with their heads poking out and refuse to sleep anywhere else. I’ve tried moving them but they prefer to sleep in the same spot. How do I train them to sleep in...
They are about 2-3 weeks, the chick has a very friendly, playful, and curious personality always approaching me and new people. It has been a week since buying the chick and it has grown lots of its shoulder and wing feathers.
For the past week my silkie has been extremely broody, once the other chickens lay their eggs she steals theirs and tries to hatch them. She has also stopped laying eggs as well. Even when there is no eggs she still goes broody. How do I make her stop and prevent it from happening again?
I have two small backyard coops able to fit two chickens safely inside and suddenly two of my chickens decided to move and get comfortable into the other coop where a new flock member is staying. The new chicken has been with the two for a month now and suddenly they decided to move in with the...
For about 2-4 days my showgirl silkie has started doing the submission squat but today she has been digging out nests but no eggs. How long would it be until she lays her first egg?
