I have a 3 year old RIR that has only laid 1 egg in the last 8 months or so and this morning found her in the coop laying down with her head in dirt, lathargic, I don't know how long she has been there. Not sure if anybody in the family check on the coop yesterday so she could of been there over...
I have a RIR that was born Sept 2014 and a Crested Cream Legbar that was born Nov 2014 . They both started out great laying eggs but for the last 6 months or more the RIR hasn't been laying any eggs. The highest protein feed I can find here in So Calif is 16%. She is not broody and her vent...
We have a Rhode Island red that is about 2years old. The last couple of months she has only layed a hand full of eggs and feathers around her vent always have poop on them. sometimes she does stand on 1 leg and her comb is slightly pale. Could she be egg bound?
We have 2 hens the same age. The RIR is really being mean to our other hen and she is now afraid to leave the nesting box. Also the RIR stopped laying eggs a few months ago, she is around 2yrs old.
Do I separate them and if so for how long?
The feed bag says no less than 16% protein and they just finished a 50 pound bag and I only have 2 hens. I just bought a new bag at a different feed store that is Purina layer mash and it also says no less than 16%. She never did loose any feathers but our other one did and and all feathers...
I have 2 hens, a RRR and a crested creamed legbar. They started as good layers then completely stopped. A couple of months ago the crested cream legbar started laying again but the RRR has only had a couple of eggs in the last 2 months. She seems like her usually self other than not laying...
We also have 2 hens and both have stopped laying eggs. One was loosing feathers but neither have been hanging out in the nesting box so I'm not sure if they would be considered Broody.
We have a small coop we put together from a kit but it doesn't have any spots for them to roost on. How high above the floor in the house should I install 1?
