The subcutaneous liquids seem to have perked her up. Her interest in food is so-so. Her crop is often pretty empty. I've been trying to tempt her with some of her favorites.
Waiting on a stool sample (of course this happens over a holiday weekend). I'm hoping it's something straightforward...
She hasn't laid an egg since Apr. 28. Before then, she was laying normal shelled eggs. And I typically give the flock crushed Tums every day / every other day.
I was able to pick up sodium chloride to administer as subcutaneous fluids from the vet's office. I gave her 60mL this evening. I'm...
I was able to get her a vet appointment with a new-to-her vet for Tuesday afternoon. I want to make sure she has as much support as possible before then.
Thank you for your help!!
No sign of mites. They eat Purina Layena crumbles with Rooster Booster mixed in. I’ll try mixing the feed with the eggs to see if she’s more interested. She has eaten a few spinach leaves on her own. Her stool remains much the same (see attached image).
Do you think...
Her newest stool and her comb. I feel like her comb has shrunk further. I’ve continued syringing water with electrolytes and raw egg.
She hears one of her sister’s egg songs and is responsive. Still not eating and drinking voluntarily.
After I posted this she did pass a stool that had a brown more solid element amidst brown water. I’ve been giving her water with electrolytes. She’s still pretty listless - currently sleeping in my lap. While she’s a mama’s girl, she’s not a lap chicken typically.
Hi everyone! My three-year-old Easter Egger was very sick back in February. Her comb was pale and she was extremely listless. My vet diagnosed her as anemic through bloodwork. The chicken began a round of Meloxicam and antibiotics to address the increased white blood cells. A few days in she was...
The only girl left in my original flock is about 2.5 years old and has started losing a lot of feathers. Over the last week she started losing the down feathers on her body, and last night she lost some of her tail feathers. She does not seem to be following the typical pattern of feather loss...
An update- about a week after this she laid another uterine discharge with a separate membrane. Her comb is back to being a dull red and she hasn't laid any thing in two weeks.
If it's something reproductive like @Wyorp Rock mentioned, is there any treatment that could cure it, or is it just a...
Both eggs are fake in the photo - only the yolk is real! (They like to fight over sitting on the fake eggs, so we give them options!)
Yes - this is the same chicken as the previous thread.
A quick update - I believe her molt is finished (which could be why she's started to lay again?). This...
Hello, everyone,
My 20-month-old hen Harriet has been having egg issues since about June when one of her sisters died from what we suspect was also egg related. She had been sporadically laying "rubber eggs" in addition to laying hard shell eggs.
I took her to the vet in late Sept. when she...
My Easter Egger (almost 18 mos) Harriet has been struggling in the FL heat. Since about June she's been laying shell-less eggs.
To help her we've been giving her electrolytes about daily and calcium + Vitamin D supplements (in water) every three days. She did produce an egg with a shell a...
