After thinking about your suggestion I thought that maybe the extensions were limiting the reach of the feed creating a bridge inside that wouldn't allow it to fall. I pulled the extensions and cut about an inch off of them. The extensions are to prevent the birds from tossing and...
Agreed with the klopklop method and chicken girl with the pellets. I figured a coarse mix of some sort would be the solution.

I like the idea of a coarse mix. I'm sure it wouldn't pack as much and would slide down the tube much smoother. I store the feed in a trash can to keep it dry and my feeder is in the center under a 8 x 12 metal roof. It's dry. I believe my issue is the fine grind (powder, like flour) is...

I'm new to the game so I need some input/advice on feed. I'm feeding a "mash" ground feed from my local elevator. It hangs up in my pvc feeder because it packs so tight in the tube. What are you feeding and why? I am assuming that crumbles or pellets would flow much better...

yeah....they were all black/dark gray out of the box. the past week the differences have become obvious. someone on another thread suggested it might be an black australorp roo. Got them through a middle man. Kind of interesting having a third breed.
