Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all,
Got through graduation and family/friends party so I finally feel like I can breathe a bit. Steve working on shingling the coop run today, so I am headed into the Menards to get drip edge and flashing. Garden starting to show some sprouting, but frustrated with the carpet of quack despite copious amounts of raking.

yup, quack is like the monster in the movie, if a piece breaks off of it, it grows into another monster.

I made a batch of dinner rolls, and now I have the cowboy beans simmering on the stove. Annie bakes hers in the oven, I do it on the stove top.. it all tastes the same to me.

I forgot to turn on the little chicks' light last night, they were all fine this morning, I don't think I will be giving them light anymore..

the double yoker chicken is laying again.. at least she is laying in the nest..

.....still quiet on here..... everybody must be holidaying.

Just finished mowing the yard. It was a bit wet yet but the new mower sure made a meal of it. Now a bit of work in the kitchen then back outside. It's a shame stuff indoors still needs attention regardless of the weather

Inspired by pictures of coops with "poop hamocks" under the perches, I have built "shite shelving" for my parrot and cockatiels. They are a little irritated that I've been creating noise and disruption in their room all afternoon. They'll get over it.

I mowed lawn for a long time today,, got the whole thing mowed and then went after the hayfield in between the nut trees. popped the belt off so I quit for the day.

Brent, maybe you need to change the battery in your keyboard ?

tomorrow Annie goes to the Dr. Kalib starts his new job, and the next day Kalib's GF starts her new job..

Had cowboy beans and ho-made dinner rolls for supper.
Prolly my favorite meal.

I was supposed to get 6 California whites and 6 barred rocks. You can see that this little gem is neither. They're 3 weeks old tomorrow and the last few days it has become obvious that she's not a barred rock. When they were little yellow and gray fluff balls....who knew...lol. Any idea what she is?

cordless, IDK what it is, barred rock chicks are almost black. then after a few weeks the bars show up..
where did you get them from? if a hatchery, I would take a picture and send it to them . they will probably send you a barred rock.

I got a lot of grass mowed yesterday, if the rain holds off, I want to mow in the nut tree orchard. the grass in there is at least a foot tall.

I would plant corn today, but the seed is still not here. Now they say it will arrive tomorrow. and somehow it is not coming FedEx anymore, it is coming USPS .. OK, fine. just get it here..

yeah....they were all black/dark gray out of the box. the past week the differences have become obvious. someone on another thread suggested it might be an black australorp roo. Got them through a middle man. Kind of interesting having a third breed.

good mid day,

I got the nut tree grove all mowed. It didn't take as long as I figured it would.

then I took the tiller and marked rows for planting corn as soon as the seed comes..

mowed down a bunch of burr dock ..

getting warm out there, I think I will just take a shower and cool it for awhile.
