Thank you for your input! I just thought it was weird that only my roosters got ill and died while all the other chickens carried on business as usual. They were really sweet and docile roosters, too. So i was pretty sad when they passed.
I'm fairly new to raising chickens (only been raising chickens for 4 years) and in August 2016 I got my first roosters (2), 4 chicks in total. They were the result of a neighbor's rooster "visiting" my girls while I was at work lol. They all grew up just fine, but summer of 2017 one of the...
Hey Ya'll!
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I have a 10 month old rooster that I need to re-home asap. He is very sweet with his ladies, a little skittish with people but not aggressive AT ALL. He has never attacked anyone except our favorite rooster, hence the re-homing...
Thank you for the prayers! At least we know now this is "normal" after a fight. I hope your roo makes a full recovery! It's always sad to see our feathered babies hurt.
And stay safe with that storm!
Some dog breeds are more prey driven than others and can't have that trained out of them. I would do some research on your dog breed and see what kind of training would suit him best. I have 2 huskies and a boston terrier and the most I have been able to do with the huskies is train them to...

I've seen some chicken keepers use bundt cake pans and partially fill them with seed, corn, veggies, meal worms etc, top it off with water and then freeze it. Apparently chickens love it.
I hope your flock is doing better.

I know nobody really wants rooster unless they're from a heritage stock, but I have a rooster that is very sweet with his ladies, a little skittish with people but not aggressive AT ALL. He has never attacked anyone except our other rooster, hence the re-homing. We are not sure what...
Hey all!
I have a bit of a dilemma. I have 2 ten-month-old cockerels that have been getting along pretty ok (they tolerated each other). There was clearly a more dominant rooster (Lucius) that would chase the other rooster (Mr. Darcy) if he got to close to his girls. Apparently, yesterday, Mr...
Yea, i have another mix from the neighbors rooster ands she's funky looking too lol.
The reason i got to thinking he was part maran was because one of the 2 pullets just began laying and i recently started getting these darker eggs.
The 2 roosters above are brothers.
I only had one laying hen at the time (the rest of my chickens were only 3 months old). So unless the neighbor's had a second rooster? But that hen is definitely the mother.
