    Is this really a leghorn?

Same here, same here :) We got them from a backyard chicken keeper, nothing fancy - all allegedly leghorns! They are all pullets and, as I stated before, as long as they lay anywhere near the numbers of a leghorn I'll be happy!

    Sick silkie

Please help! One of our silkies is sick... Can you please help diagnose it? She's sneezing and foaming around the eyes... She's already isolated from the rest of the flock. What can we do? We live in a tourism area and vets are only experienced with dogs and cats... I tried to upload a video...

    Barred Plymouth Rock

Just realized that the pics are not very good... Sorry! Dealing with an extra inquisitive bird and trying to take pictures with the mobile phone at the same time was not ideal...

    Barred Plymouth Rock

Hi everyone! Here we go again - plenty of new birds this year!!! And I think I might have my very first broody of the year... What do you think about this little fellow? 2 week-old barred Plymouth Rock. Based on everything I read on this forum I would say pullet, but it's my first time raising...

    Keeping chickens in the algarve

Hi Kwacker1100! (Sorry for the late reply - I hope you started your flock in the meantime) I'm also raising chickens in the Algarve! The main problem we face is the heat - (if you're not into it already) go for single comb (the bigger the better) chicken breeds and some naked necks. Greetings...

    Sexing Black Copper Marans

Clean legs was the whole purpose of getting them... I wanted dark eggs but didn't want the feathered legs so got in touch with a hobby (but quality) chicken enthusiast nearby and asked if he had any non-feathered leg Marans he would want to part with... And now, on top, I have 2 new standard...

    Sexing a Bresse cross

Hi! Remember the black cockerel? His mother is Bresse Gauloise and his father can be either Black Australorp or Black Jersey Giant... What's your guess?

    Sexing Black Copper Marans

Here they are again at 2.5 months... Is the one with the redder comb and wattles a cockerel?

    Sexing Black Copper Marans

Thank you! 2 weeks ago I started noticing the difference in the combs, but no. 1 didn't develop that much in the meantime... Let's hope that they are both pullets🤞

    Is this really a leghorn?

Got them solely for eggs. As long as I have hens and they lay as many eggs as a leghorn would I'm not that concerned.

Sexing silkies & what do you call this color?

Thank you so much Chookchicken! The partridges are from the same hatch (different breeding stock though)... Is it usual that 2 birds from the same breed and age (~5-½ months) have such different development in comb and wattles? Streamers are the longer feathers on their heads, right? At what...
