Sexing a Bresse cross

Mixed feelings really

- Sad because he was the last of his "keen" (we no longer have his Bresse father and Naked Neck mother) and we were expecting him to fall somewhere between the 6.5 lbs of his father and the 8 lbs of his mother and maybe use him as a breeder for our mixed flock. Also because not knowing the circumstances we like to believe that we would provide a painless end rather than being eaten by a predator (domestic or not).

- Relief because we have at least 2 other cockerels growing up and our Black Australorp rooster and we would have a huge hassle putting them all apart from each other.

Hi!

Remember the black cockerel? His mother is Bresse Gauloise and his father can be either Black Australorp or Black Jersey Giant... What's your guess?

You probably aren't going to be able to tell :/ Since white skin is dominant, the Bresse would give either cross the same bottom of foot color. Maybe you could guess with body type but I can't imagine you're going to see much of a difference

Do you have updated pictures of him? That silver leakage is so interesting!
Hi RoostersAreAwesome!

A few updated pics for your enjoyment :) Alongside with his mother on pic #2

We absolutely love the plumage pattern!!
