I couldn’t eat my chickens eggs for about a week because I had to dose their water with some chlorhexidine (prescribed by their vet). They’re dealing with some fowl pox but I saw that they were getting through it just fine so I stopped the chlorhexidine. I saved their eggs and decided to check...
Hey there,
My vet prescribed me chlorhexidine (2cc/gal of water) for my egg layers to help them with fowl pox. I’d have to wait seven days after they stopped drinking the medication for the eggs to be edible. Until then… could I feed my hens their cooked eggs and crushed egg shells? If anyone...
Hi there, they have the dry form. My vet just told me that the eggs can’t be sold because they’re “adulterated” but he said he’d be happy to “dispose” of them for me. I’m assuming that means they’re safe to eat? Not sure…
Hey, I am from Hawaii. My vet told me that fowl pox here isn’t too bad and my hens should be making a full recovery. He gave me a bottle and told me to put some in their waterer.

I had to medicate my hens to help them fight off some fowl pox. I put chlorhexidine in their water 2ml/gal. Does anyone know if it is safe to eat their eggs?
Thanks.
Hi, I noticed a growth on one of my chicks beaks. So far, this chick is the only one that has it. Anyone have an idea of what it might be? What should I do?
That’ll be my next move since she’s tried to attack the orphan. I’m going to try to do it while she’s not looking so she thinks the orphan is one of her babies.
All of the eggs were laid around similar times, I last candled the eggs two days ago and they all vary. A few will hatch within this week and a few within a couple of weeks (my other broody feral hen laid fertile eggs that all got stolen) Like I said, the first chick hatched today and I already...
So I had a broody feral hen that kept going broody and I eventually ended up just letting her hatch her eggs. She hatched her first one today and it is so beautiful. I just let her hatch them in the egg hutch but I’m not sure if I should be separating her and her eggs from the rest of the flock...
They were mostly protesting the crumbles, they’ll eat the pellets if they’re interested but spend most of their time foraging the yard. Thanks for your input!
About a couple weeks ago I used crumbles and now I am using pellets. The crumbles were probably a couple months old and my chickens only ate the feed before I started introducing them into treats and table scraps. The pellets are a couple weeks old and from what I’ve seen, they’re not too...
I have two SLW, two ameraucanas, and four feral chickens. My chickens wouldn’t eat their layer feed and would rather forage. Their egg production was slow (2 eggs per day) so I decided to feed them some treat feed. When they had the treat feed, five of them (the rest of the gerald are too young)...
