Coon proof cat door. Ideas please.

Wow, time flies! I had forgotten about this thread but happened across it while looking through my subscriptions. As an update, the platform outside the garage window has been working beautifully all these years. However recently we left some concrete blocks stacked against the garage near...

    Appenzeller Spitzhauben

Wow! Now that's more like it. Thank you for posting this, It will be very helpful when it comes time to choose breeders. I've printed it to hang in my coop so I'm constantly reminded what I'm working towards.

    Appenzeller Spitzhauben

Sweet Coastal: I've seen that photo before as well. Although he has a beautiful tail, wouldn't that be considered a squirrel tail? I've only been breeding Spitz for a few years but I've culled for a tail on that angle. Would like to hear opinions of any of you that are experienced with this...

Ha ha. You shouldnt outgrow that big building for awhile. I've been happy with 1 inch welded wire on the entire eastern exposure for good ventilation. It lets morning sun in, keeps baby chick's in and predators out. If the north wind is blocked by a solid wall and the rain is kept out from the...

Mini Meat I'm from Sonoma County, sometimes considered "Bay Area". You are very lucky to have that great shelter to work from. I am a believer in good ventilation, but you can always add more ventilation as needed. Keep in mind that the rain may blow in the openings. Where I am located that...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I give my birds all the ff they want twice a day but I still have a feeder of dry food in the run in case I'm late getting good out there. They prefer ff and free ranging but it gives me peace of mind.

Lynn I am a lurker here. Since no one has answered you about the screen I will come out of "lurkyhood". Lol The screen is window screen. The idea is the eggs will fall through to the drawer below. Meal worm farming can be as simple or as complicated as you would like depending on the amount of...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

hyelaw Long time lurker here. I thought I would share my ff trough. I made it from some recycled wood and a piece of plastic rain gutter. I cut notches in the two end pieces/legs approximately the shape of the gutter.......but a tiny bit smaller so it would be snug. I screwed the legs onto...

Brabanters and Spitzhaubens--The Differences PIC HEAVY!

I was reading on the "Breeding for Production" thread a week or so ago. They were saying the Bachelor quarters should be out of sight of the pullets/hens. Out of sight out if mind I guess. I can't figure out how to do that here.
