I feed layena pellets it has calcium already included. She looked normal I mean she was a Wyandotte so she was always very busty looking compared to my other girls. A lot of people have been suggesting heat stroke but I don’t feel like that explains her not laying.
Found one of my girls dead in the run this morning and wanted some thoughts on what it could possibly be. Her comb and wattles were bright red, she was eating and drinking fine, hadn’t seen her panting half as much as the other girls in this heat... but she hadn’t laid and egg in about a month...
I have a 8 week old Swedish flower hen. Her chest is primarily white with a black back. Any ideas what she will look like grown? I know they consistently change colors as they grow. Will her colors even out or stay the same? Pictures from her at all ages.
Got this kiddo from Meyers. Supposed to be a girl but she is bigger and much more outgoing than my other 2. I know you can tell from the head spot. And excuse the selfie pick haha. Thoughts ?
I have a 6 month old pullet. She hasn’t developed any wattles. She also has an almost non existent comb. Nothing has become red, and I was wondering if it may have to do with whatever breed she may be mixed with. I assumed as she aged she would fill out, but nothing. Is this normal? Also would...
Anyone have any idea what this is and/or how to treat it? It’s only on one leg. She isn’t showing any lameness. It is much paler, flaky, and has a mass right at the ankle. It is painful to the touch. None of our other girls have it. We clean our coop and run every day. We do use beach sand in...
I have 4 one year old hens, and decided to integrate 2 pullets and a cockerel (which was an accident) to my flock. They are about 4 to 5 months old. I have had the new kids for a month, and integrated them slowly. The problem is the hens cannot stand the cockerel, and the little new girls are...
I have a barred rock cockerel that’s about 3-4 months old. Asked one of the big local breeders around here and she confirmed, but said to hold out because he may change sexes. Is this a thing? If not, what’s the going rate for a young roo? (Sidenote- I am so exhausted by the false advertising at...
Just got this Olive Egger a couple weeks ago from a swap. There were 2 Olive Eggers supposedly born in early December. I’ve noticed the smaller girl is still chirping like a chick and has no sign of any comb. Is this normal? Not as concerned with her age as much as if she will eventually develop...
I’m new to chickens and accidentally bought a barred rock cockerel. I’m considering keeping him until he can fertilize eggs to make some barnyard mixes. I have a wyndotte, well summer, white rock, 2 olive Eggers, and mystery brown lady. Would breeding show both parents traits? I know it depends...
