My rott-mix was "playing" with one of 9 hens pretty rough for a minute or so before my kids stopped her. The hen must have flown over our 5' fence.
Its been a week and she can walk but doesn't unless forced. She is still laying eggs. She isn't eating much at all. The other hens are picking on...

As a boy, we raised pigs as well. Sure, it was "interesting" to eat the bacon/ham/sausage at the first. Same with beef and veal. Some kids even have difficulty eating the first fish they just caught. It's all human nature.

9 hens (Ameraucana's, 1 Rhode Island, and some Araucanas I think)
1 12x8x8' coop
1500sq ft yard inside our yard (for now)
