Hey! It is a first time that i have mom hen and 9 chicks. Mom is moulting lightly currently. And chicks are 17 days old.
Now that they have feathers mom began to pluck them
Expecially the tail and some on the back.
But she actally takes care of them.
I wonder should i seperate them. Only...
yeah, i really didnt think it would go that way.. because hatchery only provides day old chicks once a week and i miscalculated... i will do better next time
thank you all for the answers
hey could anyone here help me with this dilemma

Hey! I have a broody hen that will have chicks in two days (on sunday) but i bouht day old chicks today too (friday) should i introduce them today or tommorow? i really want to hatch the eggs also. And i do not want chicks getting too old. will hen sit on the eggs for another 48 hours? what is...
i like your way of thinking... for me it would be optimal if i cold do homesteading where you give animals good life and do not focus on maximal production... owerbreeding and so on
thanks for the answer much love
hi!
since chickens would not lay that much eggs if they would be in the natural habitat is it moraly right to let them die because egg laying problem... 300 eggs a year is too much and it doesnt seem like it is fair to let them suffer from liver damage egg peritrosis etc.
what do you think?
