I was given a chick yesterday at the feed store because it appeared to have splay leg. I braced its legs together but it is having issues standing up. It's still moving around on it's belly but is able to drink water, haven't seen it eat though. Should I brace its legs higher up to help it stand?
Can I ask how you made these? I just noticed my silkie chick has 1 foot with super curled toes and I don't really want to just tape due to the feathered feet.
Has anyone used bird biotic for their chickens? I've got a couple layers with signs of a respiratory infection and my TSC doesn't carry tylan 50, so I have bird biotic which is doxycycline I'm just not sure if it's safe to eat the eggs if I give it to them. I know there's usually a withdrawal...
Okay so this is Hei-Hei. She's about 7-8 months old, does not crow, attempt to mount any of the other hens or anything else. Comb and wattles are not even slightly red, but has recently started challenging me a little. It could also be due to the feathers blocking her eyes but it has me...
None of the vets in my area will treat chickens but her poop is back to normal now. She just keeps scratching at her beak and clicking it like she's got something stuck on it or in it. Nothing in her mouth that I can see
She isn't standing all the time, she's just falling asleep when she is standing. I haven't seen any sign of parasites, but put some wormer in her water just in case as well as electrolytes. No swelling of the abdomen, just acting odd. I'm planning on giving her an epsom salt soak when I get...
I noticed about 2 days ago that my favorite hen, 1 year old ee, was just sleeping standing up while everyone else was running around. I brought her in to separate her and her crop was empty. I've been giving her water via a syringe but haven't noticed her eating still. She's just slowly falling...
So about 3 weeks ago my silkie and Wyandotte started laying, they layed their first egg and haven't layed since then. At the same time I have an Ancona that's just over a year old. She usually gives me an egg every other day and I haven't gotten anything from her since the other 2...
So I finally figured out what is wrong with my poor rooster that I posted about a couple weeks back. One of his ear canals is swollen almost completely shut. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to treat him. I don't have a local avian vet so my options are pretty limited to what I can get at...
So I'm almost convinced that my rooster has an ear infection. He keeps scratching at it and that could cause a loss of equilibrium. I'm going to give him a round of antibiotics and see if that helps at all, you might try it just in case.
