    Just a chance you take. Aprox. by day 7 you should start to see veins and a little black dot when you candle the egg. If the egg appears to be transparent then it's most likely infertile.

    i had miscalculated my due date! The correct way to calculate is Say you put them in the incubator 11/5 at 10am then 1 day would be 11/6 at 10am....i had counted the day i put them in as day 1 and that is incorrect! :)

    Yeah that would be a good idea to raise it and pre socialize it with your chickens first! I'm just about to start building my coop! :)) very excited! i'm probably gunna build an arear under the nesting boxes to put my smaller chicks when there ready to go outside so I can slowly introduce them...

    I know I never had paid attention to it untill I picked out my dud eggs last hatch and looked up how to know if fertile or not! plus I had one cracked egg that i opened just to see if it was fertile and it was so then i knew the difference!

    thank you "fried green eggs" i've just left him alone these past few days just making sure she was eating and drinking and pooing and she is alot better she still has a limp but she is starting to put more and more pressure on it...she is now hopping around with all her sisters again! :))

    Yay good luck little chickadees! I FINALLY got my temp to stabilize! and my humidity is running good(between 45-50%)so far i have 6 eggs and my grandparent-inlaws are supposed to be dropping more off in the am!

    you will see a white spot in the yellow yolk when you crack it open this is called the blastoderm if its all white or no dot in middle then it's infertile if it looks like a bullseye dot in center of circle then your're good to go! :))
