Okay, So I know I need to Stop now! lol. My hens will be free range with about 1/2 acre and have a 30x30 run. They are all cold hardy birds, welsummer, cochins, ameraucana's, laced Wyandotte and one black star. And correct me if I am wrong about that! I live in DE and we have had a rough winter...
I have an 8x8 building and would like to know how many large breed hens could fit comfortably into it. I have the building now, and I have the chicks in their brooder... but I am falling into chicken math... I would like 15 hens but currently have 12. I just thought I would ask before I go get...
I am having the same problem! The mean chick is a week older then 4 of them, but she is even mean to her sister the same age. I started thinking maybe she is a roo but its to early to tell!
This is a great thread! My chicks are between one and two weeks and was holding off on the treats because I thought they were to young. I can not wait to make them a nice treat dish tomorrow! Thanks for all of the great info and ideas! I really learned a lot!!
Hello all,
I am very excited to be picking my chicks up tomorrow! However with the weather being crazy this year the different types of chicks I ordered were ready at different times, and 3 of them still need 3 weeks to even hatch. So I am picking up six tomorrow and then going back in about 3...
Yeah, the 7 ft tall is because both my husband and I are pretty tall ( him 6ft 2) so we want to walk comfortably into it. AND I want to set up some crazy purch things for them. If they can get to them or not it's whatever... I really want them to FEEL free, ya know?...
My run is currently under construction. It will be 20x10ft should I just house it all in wire? maybe a plastic roof? Leave it open at 7ft tall? Not sure. Advice please!
Its nice to have found a diverse community with common interests and lot of information. I look forward to turning to all of you with the many questions I will probably have. I have ordered my first set of chicks and I will be picking them up in two weeks! I am very excited and a little nervous...
