Official BYC Poll: Where Did You Get Your Coop & Run From?

We converted a second hand shed into the coop but the run is built from scratch using new wood, wire etc and all additional run 'clutter' is made from repurposed timber

    Worried about excessive plucking

So, a month on and I've restricted their diet to layers pellets, mealworms and occasional scrambled eggs only... We changed to a better quality non-gm feed too which is 18% protein but our ladies are looking more naked than ever... I've resorted to buying some pinless peepers to try as they're...

    Worried about excessive plucking

Thanks for your suggestions. They have hay in the original enclosure spread round and under the roofed area. That's where I was throwing the corn to encourage them to scratch longer. The area to the left of the greenhouse is soft earth to the point that they've tunnelled completely under the...

I know its my issue not theirs lol... I just feel mean. But I've kept it in check and not given them anything extra today, except a few worms to fool the 2 isolated girls into the shed so I can lift them back into their mini coop while the others spread out in the full run again. They're the...

They'll be quite upset if I go in...

Is this a version of fart eggs?

Hi all. I've only had my 10 young birds for 7 weeks but it's taken this long for them to start laying. They are 24-27 weeks old. I had 2 small eggs the first couple of days, then yesterday had 2 small fart eggs without the shells. What I'm wondering about is all the water I keep finding. Are the...

    Hi I'm new here!

Hi, after googling lots of chicken related queries I've stumbled across this forum for most of the answers so decided I should join you all! We've recently started keeping chickens with 10 point of lay chickens, 2 each of Copperblacks, Columbian Black Tails, Bluebells, Essex Stars and...
