BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

I took two cardboard boxes, taped them together, lined the base with a garbage bag, then a layer of paper and then a layer of straw bedding. I added a cardboard level, lined with scrap fabric and straw and using some cardboard, I made a ramp. The feeder is made of a tin can, some chopsticks and...

How do I find pics of milk jug waters here?

I'm going to be doing this for my guys! Just one question... Won't they cut themselves on the sharp edges of cut plastic?

    Identifying Ducklings?

Okay! Thanks :) this is the first time I've done this... I'm doing it because I have different breeds of ducks hatching and I want to be able to tell them apart. Is it bad for them? Can it hurt them?

Does anyone else use a Janoel incubator?

Yes, definitely! I really LOVED this incubator... 6/8 hatched... And the two that didn't were infertile! I am doing another hatch with this incubator but honestly, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how to work the humidity! I hadn't and haven't bought a hygrometer, so I'm going on knowledge and...

Brinsea Octagon 20 advance incubator review

Got my first brinsea Thanks so much for the review! May I suggest to not go for the Eco? I got it with the autoturn cradle, and there are so many fiddly parts ... I have spent SO LONG trying to turn the dial to get a temperature of 37.5 Degrees Celsius, and I still am trying! Also, I have to...

    slow chick

Oh... This happened to me. My little guy was not growing/moving much, and he was picked on by the others. He died. From my experience, I'd say bring the bowl closer to him so he doesn't have to move, and if you have a vet, take him there. That's all I know. Good luck!

    Hatchery

Hi everyone! I've been looking into starting a hatchery business... From what I understand, hatcheries can ship their chicks/ducklings, in a special box with a blanket and a watery vegetable, like cucumber. What I was wondering was with what shipping company? How? I am in the UK if that helps...:D

    Identifying Ducklings?

Hi everyone! I am hatching a nice big batch of eggs now, and I was wondering if there is a way to differentiate each duckling without using leg rings? Can I use a dab of sharpie on their (I don't know how to call it) fluff? Thanks!

Incubator temperature affect the sex ratio?

WOW! This seems so cool! I'm getting A LOT of duck eggs to incubate and 2 incubators... So I'll definitely be trying this! Both incubators have fans, 1 is a Janoel 12 incubator, 1 is a brinsea (I have bid for a 40-egg one on eBay). I'll keep you all updated!

    First time incubating! Pipping questions!

I'd say MAX 36 hours for a chick to leave its shell, no longer... Don't worry sometimes they like to take their time ;)

    Pip to zip.

Well first off, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the hatching community ;) About your little one... First off, you probably don't need this advice as its been two days since you've posted... I'd say to chip a small piece of the shell off, if there is blood, immediately put him/her back in the...
