This Phoenix hen has a thick watery discharge with bubbles from her left eye. I saw it a couple days ago and though she just had something in her eye, so I tried to get it out. It's still bothering her though. None of the other hens are affected.
Any ideas what is wrong?
I think this is a buff Orpington but she has feathers on her feet and she grew up with her feathers growing in very patchy and funny looking. Any ideas if she's actually a different breed or is there something wrong with her?
This is my prettiest chicken but it doesn't look like any of the breeds I ordered and I'm afraid it's a rooster. He doesn't crow though. Confirmation on gender and help identifying breed please?

My mom's quilting group gives me their used cartons and it's plenty for me. If you don't have a club, church, etc. To collect from, you could ask your neighbors. I'm sure they would be happy to exchange a few cartons for a dozen eggs.
Chickens are picky eaters in the garden when given the choice, but they'll eat almost anything when that's the only fresh leaf available to them.

Every couple weeks my flock of 14 hens of various breeds well get into a squawking contest early in the morning with no apparent provocation. There is no violence of any kind involved. Any advice?
I added one chick that was just 2 weeks old to a couple pullets who were 2 months old and they are best friends. The chick stands under and on top of her older friend all the time.
