We have various traps in and around our coop/run. I am adding one of the bucket water traps tonight. Sometimes I like to go out to our coop pretending I'm Elmer Fudd hunting wabbits... and try to pick off the rodents when I see them. Got my first confirmed kill a few days ago.
Once or twice a year I have been cleaning our run, ie digging down to start from "scratch" with fresh grass clippings and wood chips/hay. I leave the chicken manure out in our driveway and neighbors come and take what they need for their gardens. With our recent run addition, I dont see this...
This shows the most recent addition to the coop itself: a 4'x4' section. I still need to add the roof over the run in this section and replace the netting. Snow last year brought it all down... see zip ties lol.
Pic 3 shows our recent run addition. The area is about 24'x20'. Still needs a...

I repurposed lumber and roofing materials from neighbors projects and built an extension onto our coop yesterday.
The end section measures just over 4' x 4'... extending our coop to 4'x12'. Our girls have plenty of room to roam under the coop and it is easy to...
Started work on expanding our raised coop today. Got it 90% done or so. Needs support bars for roof still. Gaps secured around the edges. Need to adjust the sleeping perch. Little things.Roof over the walk area still needs extension. Coop dimensions are 4'x just over 12'.
Almost all of...
Thanks for moving to the proper section. We will have a filter/pump system set up at some point. It has been sitting on the shelf in our garage for about a year. We will have some plants in the pond as well to help with algae and such. I recently read about placing a bucket with holes in it at...
This is what we are thinking:
The coop itself will be built against the planter box. I have a pond pump to install still for our murky old pond. Only planning on 2 ducks. We can easily adjust to have pond closed to them if needed.
Originally when I made this post, I was thinking same coop. But, now after thinking on it, we will be building a separate coop for the ducks in a completely different part of the yard. We already have a pond in our front yard so we are going to put the duck coop/run area out there.
