I now have one quail left and thinking of keeping it as a pet. She's just so cute! Are there ways to house train quail? For example, go back to a cage at night or potty train? Thanks for the help.
My one hen has stopped laying for the past 3 days. Her last egg was a lash egg and I am wondering if it is stress causing it because I have no other choice but to keep her with my one other male(or I could separate them). Waiting to get new hens.
Does anyone know anything on how to sell quail eggs? I was thinking about selling Coturnix quail eggs for consumption and don't know what permits and such need to sell eggs.
For selling eggs, what do you need for selling eggs(I live in Atlanta, GA)? Also, my male quail have been making loud squawking noises and wake me up during the night. I think it might be caused because they are split up but I'm not sure.
I checked on my hen today and in a little box I flipped in it’s side so she can go in, I saw this. It looks like an egg without the shell but now I’m worried.
So I shouldn't keep one male and one female? I don't really have much of a choice in the situation I'm in but I guess I'll just separate them if I see balding. Also, is 13% good for crude protein? Just found a new food.
I'm not planning to butcher the extra males. I'm going to give them away at the same place that I'm going to get my females. It doesn't matter if I get food online or from a store but I have an Ace Hardware near. Last time I checked they had chicken feed and might have other feed. Just wondering...
Also on a side note, does anyone know where I can get good quail food? I'm currently using a quail/gamebird food(first food when you look up quail food on amazon) and I am wondering if they are getting too old for it. Also cheaper would be better($15 a bag). Or a place where I could buy in bulk?
I can house them separately but I will see. Also, my hen laid her first egg today! I read somewhere that if I add vaseline or coconut oil they can't get a hold of their feathers. But would that affect the quail? And wouldn't things like leaves or sand(they love their sand bath) stick to the...
Well, I intend to raise my quail for eggs. I'm just worried while I am waiting for more females, that my one roo will fight with my one hen. Trying to get 1 male 3 females in total.
