Mary, she is doing well in terms of maintaining her weight. She definitely eats. But only a little at a time. She's not lost any weight either. She's too fast to catch as well, so i haven't been able to inspect her. She doesn't stop when distracted...she's quite sharp
It does, but I just don't think I can do it. Don't have to stomach to kill anything and I have made so many phone calls in the last few months...they all want mass amounts of birds at one time. I'm just not there yet. Sigh
Anyone in the Three Rivers/Kalamazoo area that will come butcher 1 or more chickens? Seems everyone in the area only does 50 or more at a time?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Would they do just one or a few? I don't have meat chickens, I just ended up with a rooster that needs to be dinner now. He's too rough with my girls...
If I could start over again, I would have a whole flock of them, over my Barred Rocks and Americaunas (sp?). However, I'm still a huge fan of Buff Orpingtons, they're the only other bird I've found as loving and personable.
Hello fellow Michiganders!
I read a lot, but am for the most part silent on this forum, but I need to reach out for some information from some of you.
I'm a year new to the Three Rivers area and am in need of two things: someone I can hire on an on/off basis to cull and prepare birds for me...
Hey folks. Need some help.
One of my small girls is limping. I had cleaned her leg up before, but it's not working and this is above my knowledge of care.
Can any of you recommend a good poultry vet near Three Rivers / Kalamazoo? Need to get her in today if possible.
Thanks!
He's such a good boy too. I hold him a lot and he doesn't mind being pet once he's caught. :-). I don't know how to trim, and I doubt it would help. I have saddles on some and it hasn't worked. He's just a big rooster and I such close quarters, he's on them all the time.
South Central Michiganders... I have a large Buff Orpington rooster, 1 year old, that I have to get rid of. He's just too big for the girls for the space they are all in. He's pulled near every feather out of each of their backs. I've had to separate him, and I don't want him in a crate any...
Okey doke Michiganders... I have a question for those of you in the Southern part of the state regarding feed costs to turn some meat chickens. With getting them out on the pasture (contained in a tractor) and fermenting their feed, which goes 50% further with my layers, are there other cost...
