Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I am waiting for confirmation to send my roos to the ARRC. They are not aggressive but they are annoying.
It looks like Munsell's will be open Feb. 18. I'm waiting for the call back to confirm. Hope that date works, I'll make a day of it in Fowlerville and Howell.

PS The ducks might have to join them. How do KCs taste?

Hello fellow Michiganders!

I read a lot, but am for the most part silent on this forum, but I need to reach out for some information from some of you.

I'm a year new to the Three Rivers area and am in need of two things: someone I can hire on an on/off basis to cull and prepare birds for me (I had a butcher in Indiana, but now it's just too far), and I would love some fertilized Black Copper Maran or Light Brahma eggs to buy!

If any of you can help out with info in any way, I would appreciate it.

Thank you. :)

Welcome ! I use Munsell's Poultry Processing, in Fowlerville, for processing. Wynette (our thread starter) has very nice BC Marans, and other birds. Try contacting her. Mary

For butchering, I would see if you can get ahold of your county's 4H program or county fair counsel and see who they use for butchering market animals from the fair. Or check the boards at FFH or TSC.

x2 on Wynette for Marans, especially if you want them for the egg color.

Grrrrrrr.... Some jerk in Akron, Ohio swiped my credit card, and ran up a tally of 190.95 bucks on it. Luckily, the bank had already flagged it and the charges are still pending. I should be able to get them reversed if they actually go through. Just annoying as heck to have to deal with that nonsense.

I wouldn't see why you would be held liable for the charges. Last year the bank called ME to ask if we had recently been to such and such a place in GEORGIA. Nope. Someone took our CC information and went grocery shopping and out for dinner. I think the biggest annoyance of that stuff is having to go through and change ALL of the online bill-pay stuff. In our instance, I'm pretty sure it was from a gas station pump since that's the ONLY thing we used that particular card for.

I am seriously considering buying a bunch of chicks early this year and selling started pullets in April. But in order to do that I have to have a bunch of chicks in the house for a couple of weeks. And then clean out our smallest coop and make a "huddle box" and move the 4 birds from that coop into the big coop. Someone talk me in or out of this. When they have the "dollar chicks" at the end of the season I am buying all of them. lol.
