    Variance Request Help (Quakertown, PA)

Hello to my friends and enthusiasts. Welp. I goofed. Three years ago I misread the borough ordinances about chickens. I fit all criteria except for one-- 100 feet from every lot line. (I misread this as 100 feet from the nearest building) Well, six months ago, someone built a handful of new...

    Tylan Soluble Effectiveness

Vet didn't bother with testing, told me that was 'the only thing it could be'. She's kind of a mean person and very dismissive but she's the only aviary/exotics vet that sees chickens and claims to know anything about them. I don't know what to tell ya, haha.

Hello all-- Used a small amount of hydrocortisone on that chick's vent. Unfortunately, the chick was dead the next morning. I appreciate your help. -Z

Possible Prolapsed Vent in 2-day old Cornish Cross Chick

What a great day for my Blu kote to run out :hmm. I'll see if my tractor supply carries it, otherwise may have to go hunting. I assume there's nothing I can do for it besides 'let it go'?

    Tylan Soluble Effectiveness

I don't want to necro a thread, but I want my eventual solution to help someone else. I took her to the vet. Vet confirmed my amateur diagnosis of MG. She berated me for using tylan as she considers it a 'wives tale with more danger than it's worth'. Alright, whatever. She prescribes me...

Possible Prolapsed Vent in 2-day old Cornish Cross Chick

This is a cornish cross ('meat bird') two-day-old male chick. Conditions as shown. Chick had matted poo on its rear, gently moistened it with a warm paper towel and got it off. Bottom hole was actually a scab of some sort. Thought it was poo when I was cleaning it off. Came off fairly easily...

Major Mud and Heavy Rain - Pea Gravel? Sand? Need advice.

Unfortunately, I just can't move it. It can't be lifted or shifted in any way shape or form. If I fail the surrounding area to make it higher it will make the coop a low spot. It is a modified shed approximately 6 by 8. Haven't had any issues with water getting into it. The water has been worse...

Major Mud and Heavy Rain - Pea Gravel? Sand? Need advice.

No movement of coop is possible. Nor is movement of the run location. It's in the lowest part of the yard. It is always squishy/slightly muddy in long stretches of dry weather, and any rain sends it into liquid. I live in the southeast of Pennsylvania. I've been here over a year and it's...

Major Mud and Heavy Rain - Pea Gravel? Sand? Need advice.

I never understood why people complained about muddy runs. I always had my runs on high ground, never had a problem. Oh, what a lucky fool I was. Fast forward, present day. I moved. Extremely low lying coop and run, constant rain, mud everywhere. I'm at the end of my rope. Any straw, chips, etc...

    Tylan Soluble Effectiveness

I'll just pick up some tylan 50 and dose via syringe. No improvement in two days will net a trip to the vet. Thanks everyone, I'll keep you all updated.

    Tylan Soluble Effectiveness

I have been using the tylan soluble at the correct dose for five days. She is either not drinking enough of the water or has a secondary infection with similar presentation to MG. When you say more concentrated for mixing the soluble for syringe, what would you suggest in concentration?

    Tylan Soluble Effectiveness

I have tylan soluble, which is different. It mixes directly with drinking water. I should just get the 50 and dose her by oral syringe. Can I get clarification on bantam dosage and frequency for it?

    Tylan Soluble Effectiveness

Well, I thought her eyes were clearing up, actually. There was minimal clear discharge with some bubbles. She seemed more alert and active. I thought one of her nostrils stopped... prolapsing? Now she's back to what she looked like three days ago. I'm thinking she's not drinking enough of the...
