Layers feed. Mine prefer the pellets. Some people only give layers feed during mating season, but mine mate and lay all year. Treats are always welcomed happily!
Layers feed freely given. Mine love sweet peas, a little bread, fresh worms and grubs and I give them kitten chow once a week for their cheat day (which happens to coincide with mine)
I would think if you can call her back to you on demand, you might be ok. From my own experience, when wild ducks visit my pond, my own ducks leave the water and go hide! Introducing a duck to a flock usually takes time. It may be best to just get her another duck friend. Good luck!

Agreed! I love my pekins. If penned there's a poop problem. I have acreage so I won't be able to advise on a small yard. But they do spend time in my gardens. This was last fall, the babies were sold:

I have a dozen Pekins. They're just so sweet. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing their big fluffy butts waddle up to the house in morning & evening for food. I don't eat them, can't! But I've sold hundreds of ducklings now and everyone who buys them promises not to eat them either.
