@Dany12 @KsKingBee Posting new pics, I'm still unsure what this peachick is. It's about 10 weeks old now. Thanks for any help you can offer!

    Feeding New Layers

Layers feed. Mine prefer the pellets. Some people only give layers feed during mating season, but mine mate and lay all year. Treats are always welcomed happily!

    What to Feed A Duck

Layers feed freely given. Mine love sweet peas, a little bread, fresh worms and grubs and I give them kitten chow once a week for their cheat day (which happens to coincide with mine)

    Personalised Duck Advice

Haha I only keep a dozen permanently. The babies all get sold.

I want to take my duck to a pond to socialize with other ducks, but is it allowed?

I would think if you can call her back to you on demand, you might be ok. From my own experience, when wild ducks visit my pond, my own ducks leave the water and go hide! Introducing a duck to a flock usually takes time. It may be best to just get her another duck friend. Good luck! :welcome

    Personalised Duck Advice

Agreed! I love my pekins. If penned there's a poop problem. I have acreage so I won't be able to advise on a small yard. But they do spend time in my gardens. This was last fall, the babies were sold: How cute are those big fluffy butts?

    Three Drakes Living Together?

I've had people buy only drake pekins from me because they make much less noise and don't attract vermin or snakes with eggs. They all seem to be happy together according to the people who buy them. (Most people keep in contact with me after buying ducklings because they're proud of their...

    Pekin duck gender

The 1st one definitely looks like it has a drake feather. Does the one in the 2nd pic quack? If it quacks it's a hen. Welcome to BYC! :welcome

Let's talk Ducks..Right from their Bills to their doodles then to their tails..

I have a dozen Pekins. They're just so sweet. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing their big fluffy butts waddle up to the house in morning & evening for food. I don't eat them, can't! But I've sold hundreds of ducklings now and everyone who buys them promises not to eat them either.
