babyrnlc: I hope it's a girl too! If it's a boy it will definitely get eaten, it's tiny compared to the other birds! I'd love to potentially get that many eggs out of her, I could hatch more babies that way! I wish my other girls laid that well, we've been getting six a day out of 14 cause...
Well that doesn't sound good. Is color a better indicator of sex or other things like comb development and feathering out? I'd also just like to know for future reference. I absolutely love these DC babies and might have to get more
I ordered five Dark Cornish roo chicks from MMH and they gave me one free (you'd think they wanted to get rid of roos or something!) so I ended up with six. Over the past week, five of them have really shot up; their combs are getting big, along with their legs, and they're starting to feather...
I just got a shipment of chicks today and one of them won't stop scratching her eyes. She'll pause for a minute or too then run into walls and everything else trying to scratch them. I checked her eyes and I don't see anything in them and I flushed them thinking she has something in them but...
Here are my three giants. They're almost 13 weeks old and I constantly confuse my black one with my full grown Australorp! I got them from a local breeder but I ordered a White Giant from MMH and I'm curious to see the size difference.
Big Daddy is in front, Louis is in the tire and Amalthea...
Would you happen to know if one sex feathers out quicker? I read through most of the Andalusian thread and saw comments on comb and wattle development but not feathers.

That's a link to the spreaders.
Not speaking from experience (yet), I feel like the angled tweezers would be easier to handle but at the same time the ones with the large cup seem like they'd get a better hold. I'm curious to see what others have to say on this too. Would you just hold the light while you worked or would you...
Thanks guys! That's what I figured! The best part about it though is I ordered some chicks from McMurray that are coming early February, and I ordered a Leghorn because I wanted a white egg layer! I'm going to call and change my order to include a Dark Brahma instead. I've been wanting one soooo...
I have four 9 1/2 week old pullets that I bought from someone who had ordered a large pullet run. She listed that she had several varieties including Welsummers and Partridge Rocks, both of which I wanted so I went to pick out two of each. When I got there she said they'd done an assortment and...
Thank you! ^.^ I was thinking the same thing about #2. He/she is the most dominant out of all of them and has that "roo" look to his/her eye. Hopefully I just end up with a dominant hen. I don't know if I could handle another roo, I already have two.
