Our Silkies stay away from the rooster and other hens and never do anything to bother them, and I don't think our roo even really knows they are there.
We have the opposite problem in our coop. The entire flock is ganging up on one old hen. She hides all the time, and has a big bald spot on her head. I wish there was something we could do to help. Poor girl. She runs to us when we are out there so we can protect her. She eats so fast, worried...
One of our hens got attacked by a hawk once. If you clean it and put ointment on it, and put a bandage on, she will probably get better. Keep her separated so the other hens and roo don't peck her. I hope she gets better!
She's doing a little better, but if there's something serious I want to fix it before she ends up getting hit by a car. Should I separate her from the flock so I can keep an eye on her?
No clue. There was a raccoon in the yard the other day, but it wasn't anywhere near the coop. Our hens are free range chickens, and the raccoon was up by the house where the hens were. We ended up shooting it because it was out during the day, and we thought it might be sick. Anyway, she was...
One of our Silkies has been acting strange. She doesn't do much, and yesterday our neighbor found her huddled in a tree across the street. Any ideas? She doesn't seem sick.
Rub the crop daily and try to get her to drink vegetable oil, which can loosen up whatever is impacting it. If that doesn't work, I can't help you. I'm sorry about the bird, and I hope she gets better.
