Had 6 eggs incubating, 5 hatched with no real issues, last hatch was 12 hours ago (21.5 days)
This one still hasn't internally pipped. My husband and I both thought was maybe saw a little movement but weren't convinced.
This is now the start of day 22.
Anyway, here's a couple pictures...
I just did a hatch, like the last chick hatched like 20 minutes ago. I had like 4 who pipped like that and stayed that way for 8-12 hours at least, then did a bigger pip, then took another 4-6 hours to finally unzip and hatch. My chicks all look super healthy. Your chick has plenty of time!
So just an update, she hatched without incident! I started with 7 eggs, one never developed, and 5 have hatched. The other looks completely full, but doesn't seem to have pipped internally, so I'll give it another day or so and see what happens.
Ok! I did a quick turn and this is what I found. I can see the chick moving/breathing, though there does seem to be a little dried blood on the edge of the shell, maybe from pipping too low?
When I locked down, I rested each egg in a little section of toilet paper tubing to elevate the air cell end a little and keep them from getting jostled.
Most have already externally pipped at or near the top, but this egg pipped under the little cardboard ring, near the ground, and way inside...
Her feathers are definitely different than our silver laced Wyandotte when she was young, figured she might have been misidentified or some mix. For a quarter I won't file a complaint. :) Thanks for your reply!
I got a number of chicks on clearance, straight run, from tractor supply. (Hard to say no to 25 cents each!)
We got six buff orpingtons and one Wyandotte they had left. They are now 9 weeks old. As the orpingtons have gotten bigger and we have the ability to compare and contrast, we ended up...
So just as an update --
Wonky feet up there passed away after a few days. I don't think she was eating. I guess she was kind of a train wreck and maybe she just was never meant to make it.
The boy that hatched under our hen and the other girl are doing great.
We had one more boy hatch, he...
What did they end up being?
I just hatched a few rhodebars and they are definitely lighter than these, my guess was that you had bielefelders, wondering if I'm right. :)
Goodness.... looking at this picture I wondered if her feet were normal, like do they all come out of the egg like that or what? And as I'm sure someone would have noticed and told me, no, those curls don't go away on their own. So now both her feet are band-aided so her feet bones can harden...
Well, no rest for the weary here. She's out and moving around, chirping and looking super feisty, but with a bit of yolk sac still unabsorbed. Hopefully that will resolve itself. But she's practicality trying to run laps around the incubator.
If I were to try to put her under my broody with...
