    Sprouted grains and ???

Where are you located? Ranch Way Feeds, Scratch and Peck, Big Sky Feeds, Modesto Mills. All make Soy/corn free feed. Scratch and Peck can be ordered through Azure Standard and their website. But if you just start calling feed stores someone will direct you to where Soy Free can be found, it just...

Possible infection in foot? Limping hen.

Well I soaked her foot in Epsom salts and was going to lance the foot. But in the process of her struggle the toe nail ripped off. I poked around and squeezed, some rubbery stuff pushed out but I couldn't pull it out. She was bleeding quite badly so we stopped and wrapped her up for the night...

Possible infection in foot? Limping hen.

The toe nail also is darker and looks to have blood running thru it, in case that matters. Not sure if maybe she had trauma to it?

Possible infection in foot? Limping hen.

I do live where frost bite is a possibility. But I don't think that's what happened since its been warmer lately. There looks to be a small cut right below the nail. Not sure if it's from swelling or what but it's new as of yesterday. I've been treating with vetericyn and she was at the vet a...

Possible infection in foot? Limping hen.

For about a month I have had a RIR that had been limping. The local vet didn't notice anything that looked odd. But the leg she is babying is warm to touch. She has lost weight but is still eating and drinking. She isn't acting as outgoing as normal (running to me when I go outside). I will...

Looking for No Corn/No Soy Organic Feed

Azure standard has scratch a peck and they prob have a drop in your area. I recently switched to Big Sky feed corn/soy free they are out of Montana. Your best bet would be to check a local mill and then see if you can find a mom and pop feed shop to help you source something. I had to drive and...

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Doesn't look like that. Where is this FAQ you speak of? I'm on mobile so I wonder if I need to be on the computer to find it. Thanks.

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

No, and it grows in patches. It is mainly on the sides of the bucket but a few tiny spots have grown on the top of the feed. It doesn't smell like my other ferment either, so it's throwing me off.

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

So if I just started getting white fuzz on my feed would I be safe to bet it's yeast? I switched feeds and the new feed keeps getting this white fuzz that I assumed was mold.

    Adding A Window to Coop...QUESTIONS!!

Well we ended up installing the window the way it was supposed to be installed. We then sandwiched hardware cloth between the window and trim. The girls are loving their new windows. Oh and we installed them so they slid to the left and right and not up and down. No problems to report so far.

Anyone feeding your Kombutcha mothers to your chickens?

I haven't fed my chickens a scoby from kombucha, but couldn't you just feed it to them in the wet state? I ferment my chickens feed and the scoby just gets mixed back into the feed and fed to the chickens.

post your chicken coop pictures here!

We orginally had a 3x5 coop built, once I got my girls inside I realized it was just to small for a long winter so my husband added on a 4x5 lean to with metal roof. So now it's a 7x5 coop with interior nest boxes. It really wasn't that hard but the current addition wasn't to add new chickens...

The windows won't be here until Tuesday so I won't be able to mount then until the weekend. But I will update with what we decide.

    Adding A Window to Coop...QUESTIONS!!

I don't see any reason why you couldn't turn it. I ordered the 12x18 of this window for my coop and was thinking about mounting it on the inside so I can open and close the slider from the outside.
