Thank you. I started a bath for her right now. I've never had a hen prolapse before so I wasn't sure. After cleaning her up a bit there is yolk and white but I don't see shell. Does anyone have any advice on how to get the contents of the egg out? Should I gently push that back in first? I'm...
She was fine yesterday but this morning after letting the girls out of the coop I noticed one of my hens leaning sort of backwards and not moving much. Then I see this. She sqauts and pushes every few minutes or so . Is this a prolapse? What can I do to help her? Edit To Say: No bird vets near...
Hen party every night here! We are even starting a mealworm farm for the ladies. Again thanks so much for the info. I have been feeling guilty watching her struggle that way. She's def sleeping with us tonight.
Thanks. When we first brought her home she was laying on her side with legs stretched out. I saw a vid posted here with similar symptoms and leg out but that was a while ago now. I am leaning towards slipped tendon or leg deformity now. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much we agree she is so cute! Sweet little girl too. I have checked the bottom of her feet for bumble foot or other signs but she has been this way since we brought her home. (Feed store brooder, I did notice some chicks looked a little trampled on) :( I will try to have my partner...
Yes thanks I have a short vid I can post a youtube link to. It is uplaoding right now. We usually find her resting like this. She is usually laying down when she eats next to the feeder.
I am having the weirdest time with my chickens right now. :/ We brought home 3 - two week old Buckeye chicks about two months ago. One of the chicks seemed like she had cocci (what I suspected from her behaviour, or slipped tendon) when I brought her home, all she did was lay down with her side...
I want to add, I just saw a video on a chick with a slipped tendon. When I tried to feel for this I didn't feel anything slip in or out of place. Could it still be a possibility?
I brought home 3 Buckeye chicks from my local feed store yesterday and one of them is not doing as well as the others. As soon as I took them out of the box she seemed off. It seems to me that something is just not right. I've been observing her and noticed that she sits almost all of the time...
Also, we haven't had any additions to the flock. It has remained the same for over 8 months. The only addtitions were chicks hatched from which he was the father.
