    Blue Ameraucana thread!

Hello again Blue Ameraucana thread! Five weeks ago you may recall me posting several photos of my BA and asking what gender it was. I thought it would be a hen but some here said it was most likely a rooster based on the tail feathers. Here are some of those older photos again. As I...

    Blue Ameraucana thread!

Haha, I'm sure it sounds the same with all chickens. And while he's doing that, all the hens start attacking him so he jumps off and starts trying to sound all innocent like. And I think my RIR's are around 8 months old.

    Blue Ameraucana thread!

Right, yeah I was also going to add, my Easter egger just started trying to mount my RIR hens about a week ago, and they just end up chasing him away. I have yet to hear him crow. Still no such behavior from the ameracauna though.

    Blue Ameraucana thread!

Well if so, that is indeed a shame. Is there a significant difference in the physical characteristics of a blue ameracauna rooster and an Easter egger rooster if they're both around the same age? We got both of ours when they were supposed to be 8 weeks old. Since then now they would be coming...

    Blue Ameraucana thread!

My Blue Ameracauna We got her with the Easter Egger next to her. That one has turned out to be a rooster. We're hoping that will not be the case with the Blue Ameracauna. I think she looks like she would be a hen, but can anyone else confirm this? She is supposed to be 17 weeks old by...

    Easter Egger rooster-like behavior

Thanks for the response, that's what we were thinking ourselves. I hope that the Blue Ameraucana doesn't turn out to be one. We were hoping for at least one blue egg layer.

    Easter Egger rooster-like behavior

About two months ago my family and I purchased a Blue Ameraucana and and Easter Egger who were supposed to be pullets at 8 weeks of age. We introduced them to our flock of 4 RIR's at about 13 weeks and they have been going through the pecking order. Right now they should be 16 weeks old, but...

    Hello from Illinois

Thanks for the the welcome! My RIR's are about 7 months old now and laying 4 eggs daily. My Blue Ameraucana and Easter Egger are now 13 weeks old. They're currently still going through the pecking order with the older girls but everything seems to be going fairly smoothly thus far. Glad to be...
