    I'm in the process of building a run (24x40) for 23 chickens, I never thought of putting anything on the ground. What's the benefit of sand over just the dirt that's already there?

    New to the site and new to chickens, 4 laying hen and 19 chicks. I wanted chickens for their eggs, I never thought that I would get so attached to a "chicken" lol. They all have their own personality. Can't wait til the chicks grow up.

    Chicks with adult hens

    I have 4 laying hens in coop, I have 9 barred rock pullets and 10 isa browns pullets about 5 weeks old in my garage under heat lamp at night. My question is when should I put them with the adult hens?
