Ducks and Chickens - Different Beneath Their Fancy Linens?

I hope so! They are in distant Colorado, while I am in California. My daughter-in-law, however, is far more attentive, diligent and precise than I have ever been, even at my best. Last I heard she was awaiting my son's assistance to hold the bird, so that she could get a proper look at the...

Ducks and Chickens - Different Beneath Their Fancy Linens?

Hello! My son and his beautiful little family have ducks. Today, one was attacked. She was rescued, but has a wound on her wing. I sent my daughter-in-law links to a couple of relevant threads from this forum. However, there are MANY more threads addressing attack wounds on the primary...

Ok. So, I get too attached. I can admit that. Need ideas anyway.

Yes. That's the idea exactly. I have had to settle for just letting them out to be with me whenever I am home and at my leisure. They don't really give me much choice, as the moment they see me they begin to shriek, until I go get them. I suppose that I am setting myself up for the future...

I wish I were a more quiet sleeper! I'm one who sweeps the nightstand clean each night. That is a great thing! If only it heated up! My mom gave a wind up alarm clock wrapped in a towel to the kittens we had when I was little. It did actually seem to make them happy!

Ok. So, I get too attached. I can admit that. Need ideas anyway.

I have tiny chicks from the local farm supply store. It tears at my heart how they all get so happy, and fall asleep immediately, when I let them snuggle under my chin, with a T-shirt over them. I can just feel how they are longing to be under their mom. I am the closest they can get. Once...

Considering hatching chicks to sell, advice?

I have been going back and forth with this same idea. This video was the one that really fueled my enthusiasm. I think that, for me, I have not yet been willing or able to invest the neccessary money in the infrastructure and foundational supplies yet. I would want to have good, solid...

    Sick RI Red Rooster

Mike's Falconry sells a Doxycy Would a Tylan/Doxycycline blend provide any advantage? Mikesfalconry.com sells it, and it is a little bit less expensive. I am always pinching pennies! I have no information about the difference in effect though. I figure more info is always better. I sure...

Is My Rooster Sick; or is He Just Old and Winding Down?

Fantastic. I will do that. Thank you! I presently have no idea which they are, but will know first thing in the morning. So, if they are mites, which is my suspicion, is there hope of eradicating them from the house? So far, I have only washed Daniel with person shampoo, or dawn dish soap...

Is My Rooster Sick; or is He Just Old and Winding Down?

Hello! Daniel, for whom I have sometimes sought wisdom here over the years, is about 6.5 years old. He is a Cuckoo Marans cross. Because he is mostly blind, Daniel has been an indoor pet most of his life. We have tried, at times, to house him in a run, with very docile hens, but Daniel is...

Strange Looking Chickens, with a Mysterious Past....

Well, thank you very much! I haven't known anyone who kept game birds (of the chicken sort) before. I am amazed, because people always seem to be looking for good layers. If their pattern thus far is an indication, these birds are amazing layers! They are not friendly, as I say, but that...

Strange Looking Chickens, with a Mysterious Past....

Here are some more pics. I had the idea that game birds were smaller. No?
