I can take pics if you're interested in them. I'm rehoming because I'm technically not allowed to have them where I live. I need to get a city inspection done for home improvements.

by 13 weeks would I know if I had any roosters?

Looks like a pullet to me and I'd say she'll lay first. I suppose anything is possible but I think a BO cockerel would have much, much larger comb and wattles by now. My little BO cockerel's comb and wattles were at least twice that big at 8 weeks old.

    Auto-feeding buckets.

This 30 lb feeder from tractor supply works well for me. Completely full, it will feed my 10 layers for about 10 days. I usually refill it every week. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/harris-farms-hanging-feeder-for-20-40-birds-30-lb-capacity

    3-4 weeks.

    Types of chicks?

I saw similar ones at the local TSC a week back along with a couple bins of straight run specific breeds. I think what they're labeling as pullets are a hatchery choice of efficient egg layers which probably includes leghorn hybrids, sex links, or production hybrids To me, it looks like you...

    How to wash eggs?

If they have poop on them, I wash them with warm water immediately after collecting them. Otherwise, I wash with warm water just before cracking. I don't like to wash the bloom away since it helps keep the eggs fresher.

Good, cheap online source for hardware cloth?

Quote: I'm very happy with it. It's tough stuff and seems just as heavy gauge as what I found at Home Depot or Lowe's for a lot cheaper. The first roll was damaged during shipping; the outer wrap ~3 ft long had some broken wires. I reported it and they shipped me a full 50 ft roll replacement...

    Best Breeds for First Timers

I'm in a very similar situation and got 4 different breeds. My Buff Orpingtons are the most gentile and quiet. They will let my young kids pick them up and hold them while roaming the yard. No eggs yet, but will be brown. My kids like their rich, buff color. The main consideration is the...

    Brooder?

Welcome to BYC! I had seen this somewhere, seemed about right to me: day old chicks: 1/4 sqft per chick 2 week old chicks: 1/2 sqft per chick 4 week old chicks: 1 sqft per chick From there, continue to double space when their age doubles until you get to ~8 sqft per bird. Where do you...

    Small, low maintenance waterer?

I like the horizontal nipples best. I put mine in a 5 gallon bucket, but you can put them in smaller containers like here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/843040/vertical-gravity-vs-horizontal-spring-loaded-watering-nipples/330 There are a lot more pictures on that thread to give you all...
