Auto-feeding buckets.

Do the auto feeding buckets with the pvc elboes clog???? I am hunting some kind of feeder I can leave and go off for the weekend and not worry. Can someone help me out on this . I have grown 13 hens and now 18 chicks. I would have to build two. Help. And thanks

They don't clog,the bottom of the elbow should be about 3/4 of an inch off the bottom of the bucket,I feed pellets and have had no problems.

I see that you're in NC so you may not have the same problem as me with humidity. I live in south Louisiana where the humidity is never below 60-70% and usually in the summer is 100%. I think the idea of the auto-feeder is great but mine plugged up after a few days of off and on rain. The feed started fermenting and made a big ball of stinky moldy food. I have it under a roof but I don't think the rain was the problem. I just pulled the bucket and have been feeding scraps until later in the year when it dries up a little. Hope this helps
 
Cajun chick that is what I am worried about too. We are cooler here in the mtns but we do have a lot of moisture. I am in a very moist forest area of mtns, at 2000 ft. I love its greeness sooooo much but it can get moist in the summer when it gets hot.
 
I feed my chickens cracked corn and layer crumb. Is that right or do they need something elsr too?
