Rehoming adult breeding pair of Shetland hens (1 hen/ 1 rooster):
- Lay blue/green eggs
- Excellent temperament for confinement / small runs (landrace survived Shetland winters penned in barns and houses), so great for backyard runs and coops, docile & quiet (rooster does crow). Silkie-like...

I had a small flock of Shetlands in central CA and they were definitely fine with the heat- we had a horrible weekend of 110 degF in the shade where we kept spraying the run down. The Shetlands did fine that that mitigation.

If you have a Trader Joes in your area, they sell fertilized eggs (white, from Leghorns) for ~ $3/doz. The hatch rate may be lowered due to transportation and refrigeration, but I've heard of folk using these eggs to check hatch rates for newly set-up incubators.

Would love to hatch out your birds! (4 acres in Santa Cruz Mts)
Preference to: # 5 - Sweet Potato Quechua
can substitute up to 4 eggs of others mixed into 1 doz.
We usually incubate then graft day-olds onto broody hens, otherwise, brooding buckets.
Property is zoned Res Ag, so limit on birds...
Congratulations!
Let me know if you're still looking for a home for your ladies! We have 4 acres in the Santa Cruz mountains and will be adding a new coop/run (12' x 40') soon. Birds free range in our orchard & forest during the day and secured in coop at night. Total flock 40ish chickens/...
