Hey, hope everyone is well and relishing this "awesome" spring weather! My girls are currently huddled in the coup. I have a odd question but perhaps not all that odd. Does anyone here use a chicken sitter? I'm traveling to Europe for 10 days in August and I worry about the girls more than my...

My four girls did just fine. They were a little reluctant to come out of the coop today which took some coaxing. I was just happy to see them happy

This is my (and the chickens) first winter. I'll admit I thought about them a lot last night. Took a waterer out to them this morning and was relieved to see them giving me the stink eye from inside the coop.

I'm not sure where you are located but I would try Northern Colorado Feeder Supply in Fort Collins. I picked up some chicks back in mid-August and they had a bunch available.

Thank you @lomine ! I haven't been acclimating them really. I haven't been home enough to do so. I think what I'll do is turn their light off and let them get used to the temps in the house which range from 63 to 75. My coop is draft free and I suppose I could make the bedding deeper.

Hi All! I haven't been on much lately. I have been busy with work and wedding and honeymoon stuff. I have what's probably a very redundant question but since I'm new to chicken keeping I feel better asking people that are more knowledgeable than me (especially people that live in the area). I...

Thank you everyone! By chance does anyone know of anyplace in the greater Denver area that might have bantam chicks in stock? Wardle is out, however, I did find some at Northern CO Feeders Supply in Fort Collins. That's a bit of a drive for me but I'll do it if there isn't anyplace closer.

Hi everyone! I'm going to just slide right in this thread and introduce myself. I live in Lakewood just west of Denver. I began my adventures in chicken keeping this year and it's been fun/not so fun. I wanted pets more than egg producers. We can have 4 hens and I went with Silkies due to being...

Ugh, I'm going to go cry a pool of tears and drown myself. Out of 5 chicks I had 4 roosters... Thank you!

    silkie sexing

Can anyone help me with my blue silkie? I'm starting to think its a cockerel but hoping I might be wrong. All my chicks are approximately 14 weeks old now. Here is a side profile. Here it is sandwiched between the other two that I know are roosters. Another side profile picture...

Sexing your Silkies (PICTURES AND TIPS - Updated July-5-12)

Can anyone help me with my blue silkie? I'm suspecting it's a roo which if it is I might just break down and cry. That would mean out of 5 chicks I had 4 roos. They are all approximately 14 weeks old now. Here is the chick sandwiched between two that I know are roosters (crowing). The cute...
