This is an old thread, but just wanted to comment we had exactly the same thing happen today as the original poster - apparently perfectly healthy ISA Brown hen found dead in the nesting box during a hot streak - temps in the high 90s. Guessing that's the issue.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! We were out there today adding two perches, a wheelbarrow of our own full of pine needles and a dust bath. Will be giving them squash and lettuce to welcome back our buff tomorrow. Bought some Blu Kote today so we're all set.
