We’ve been giving her layer pellets, scratch grain and food scraps - different vegetables and fruit. She’s about a year old and I believe her poop looks normal but I don’t know that I know what normal is.
My sweet hen has been acting super sluggish the last few weeks. I did some research on the forum and people said that it could be a vitamin deficiency. She would stand but when she walked she was super clumsy! So we pulled her from the rest of the group and have kept her in a separate container...
I'm so sorry I didn't get the alert that you asked for an update! I had been putting antibiotic spray on it without plucking his feathers - I was so worried I would hurt him! But he seems to be doing great and I don't see anymore infection!
Sorry I've never plucked a bird before, especially not one that's alive so I want to make sure I don't hurt him. So you pull the feather in the direction it grows, do you slowly try to pull or just pull fast and get it over with?
And I haven't done anything so far, I wasn't sure what to do and just found it yesterday so was checking on here to see what's best! I tried wiping it down but he wasn't cooperating :)
No idea how it happened or how long it's been there, he happened to be standing at the right angle for me to realize it wasn't mud on him, we have had an ENORMOUS amount of rain here in MS and everything is so muddy
It doesn't look like it goes deep in the picture but I could pull the feathers back towards the top and it kept going. Again he didn't like me pulling on it and I only had one hand - the other had my phone taking the picture!
Oh my gosh, so sorry! For some reason, I wasn't getting any alerts! Please see attached the picture. It was the best I could do as he wouldn't let me really touch the area.
Hey guys! We found one of our male pekin ducks today outside and I noticed this black spot on the back of his body. When my husband picked him up and I was able to pull feathers back, he has a huge sore that's black and can see some infected skin. I don't want the poor guy to suffer, what's the...
So do you guys think I should separate them? I have a coop I can put her in, our ducks have a pond on our land and they hang out down there but I could catch her and put her in the coop for a while.
These are our first Pekin ducks. We have two males and one female, I know not ideal but we’ve been good up to this point. I believe it’s mating time and there is one male that is constantly chasing our female. But the males tend to stick together though and only one of the males chases the...
I don’t think so, if anything I think the ducks could take them haha the ducks are about twice the size of the guineas. And they usually all cuddle up with each other.
