    Feeding cornish chickens

Quote: Three months is a long time. At eight weeks we can be at 6-7 lbs easy, but most have enlarged hearts at that time. I would watch for flip and butcher as soon as you lose one. Just my 2 cents. Dennis

what to do with hens who stop laying.

Canning is great, but let the meat rest in the fridge for a day for the best outcome. I have had mixed results before doing this. Dennis

    Whizbang pluckers

We are around $500 but were in a hurry and bought a new motor that was half the cost. I'm sure if you have time to salvage parts you could build cheaper. Dennis

Awesome. Two birds 20 seconds, clean. http://whizbangplucker.blogspot.com/ I bought the book from Herrick and for the work he put in it, it was well worth the $20 Dennis

Do you ever get used to the flapping of the wings?

I have heard of people using womens hose to restrain the bird in single use apps.

    Can I eat it?

I would pass on eating this. I am raising most of our food to get quality. Eating a sick or unhealthy bird does not fit that description. Just my 2 cents. Dennis

MY plucker is done!! UPDATED..pics added!

Just finished 80 birds. Would not do it without the wizbang. We spent around $500 but had to buy the motor. My back would start hurting before we would hand pluck. Liamm you can get the plans from http://whizbangbooks.blogspot.com/2007/12/whizbang-6.html it's $20.00 and well worth it. Dennis

Will be butchering 80 birds in the AM. Just got notified that I won Welp Hatcherys drawing and have a choice of a hat a themometer or 25 C-X. Will be taking the birds, a hat would look silly on a chicken. Dennis
