You know they just sit there while that chicken picks at their butts and takes all the feathers off them they don't run away they just sit there let it do it. I wonder if maybe I could put some Vaseline on those feathers.
I have four different breeds and one of them is picking the feathers off the others to the point where they got bare skin now around the back ends. Anybody got a method to stop this madness.
Well I bought those baby chicks so they are grow up and lay eggs because everyone in my house loves eggs. Baby chick cost a couple bucks and then I got to buy these bags of food that half of it ends up on the ground so I might as well get eggs out of them as long as I can. When it stops laying...
I got these birds this spring and I live in Southern New Hampshire. So I don't know if it's too much light but I really like the results. Because now I'm getting more eggs than I did in the middle of the summer. I got 6 last night. And I only got six one time during the whole summer.
Winter time means shorter days and less eggs. But it doesn't have to be that way. I put a small tiny light bulb in my Coupe on a timer with 4 hours extra at dawn and 4 extra hours at dusk. Look at my results.

I had the same problem with six new chickens. I put a small light bulb inside the coop on a timer and since it's winter time I added four hours in the morning and for hours at night from sunup and sundown. Here's my results.
