    The egg was darker than the Barnevelder eggs, but I don't have Marans to know if it was a lighter or darker egg color for them. I was gifted (3) Maran eggs with my order for Barnevelders. (2) hatched but he was the only one to make it to maturity.

    Yes, we will be there. I am about 18-20 miles north of the facility. As far as crowing, I couldn't tell you since he is one of about 15 roosters we have :)

    He is a year old. He was aggressive once with my 14 yr old and got kicked for his effort and hasn't tried it again. He is nice looking and I would keep him but we don't have any other Marans and my wife wants me to cut down on the Barnevelders and Americanas.

    My kids tell me there are 95: 27 Barnies (Black, Blue & Splash), 18 Speckled Sussex, 24 Americauna (Black, white, blue, lavender, wheaten), 6 silkies (white & black), 2 Japanese blk tail, 3 spitzhauben, 10 mille fluers, & 5 mutts 2893+95=2988 or 4303+95=4398 Depending on where you read.
