Looky what I got! Fabulous foam for shipping eggs!-Angie! Need more!!!

Quote: The eggs were shipped using FOAM; that was my point. I received pheasant eggs once in foam and once in bubble wrap(per my request) and the bubble wrapped eggs hatched twice as many chicks. The seller, bless them, was nice enough to send a second batch after I sent them pictures of how...

Looky what I got! Fabulous foam for shipping eggs!-Angie! Need more!!!

I can say I honestly have had WAY better luck with eggs packed with the bubble wrap and packing peanuts method. I had 3 batches of eggs come packed in foam all from different people and my goodness were they ever scrambled! It seems like the contents of the egg absorbs all the shock from the...

Barred Rock and Black Sex Link Pullets 33wks LANCASTER, PA

I have about 20 pullets to sell, getting WAY more eggs than I can handle. They just started laying in January, never have had any sickness in the flock. Friendly birds. Breeds are Barred Rock and Black Sex Link. Raised them from chicks.

Comment by 'dgermanshepherd' in item 'Black Sex Link chicken'

I have a group of 25 BSL and 25 Barred rocks right now and the BSL's are the sweetest most loveable birds I have ever had. Very calm and quiet compared to my BR's. My BSL's are twice the size of my barred rocks and they are the same age (22wks). The Coloring is my favorite no two hens are...

    Gaining the Deep Golden Yolk

Thanks for the links!!! Excellent information. What type of alfalfa do you recommend? Tried soaked pellets with no luck. Right now they have free choice access to Layer mash, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, BOSS and cracked corn. Does age ever play a factor?

    Gaining the Deep Golden Yolk

I have a free range flock of different breed chickens and lately the yolks have been lacking in the deep golden orange color. I have hens just coming into their laying and older hens that vary between 3-6yrs old and plenty of roosters. They are all just about out of their molt and are on...

Hard Red and White Wheat for chickens?

I called around to the different feed mills in the area and only one place carries hard red wheat! They told me it was for seed and not for feed; and they don't recommend feeding it to the birds. Is there a difference between the feed version and the planting seed version?
