Just look for the chicken with tears in their eyes and you've found the right bird!

I think inside is best just to keep it dry. I've no idea if the birds ever eat or drink at night but if they feel "peckish", it's there.

I'm sure chicken knows best. If the grit is available and they don't eat it then it probably means they are finding enough as they scratch about on the ground. If the eggs have good enough shells I wouldn't worry at all.

Congratulations. Blow it out. Then you can keep the egg and eat it!
