Mystery - Greenfire Farms Cream Legbars Dying

Hi all, I have a flock of Cream Legbars purchased from Greenfire Farms, born around April 1. They seemed fine until about 4 weeks ago, when they started dying, usually 1 or 2 per week out of a flock of 8. I am down to the last 2. The symptoms begin with a loss of balance and control of one...

Chicken laying eggs without a shell

Hi folks, I have a blue Andalusian hen who I believed had stopped laying eggs a few weeks ago. Today I saw her crouch and out came this: Now that I’ve seen this happen, I realize that she’s probably been doing this for some time, but likely has been eating her shell-less eggs (or another...

All white French Black Copper Marans?

Thanks folks. The chick's eyes appear normal - same as the black ones. The chick looks like @LizzzyJo's picture of the white marans chick. Here is a video:

All white French Black Copper Marans?

There seem to be a couple of posts on this topic over the years but I haven’t found a clear answer and would love any info on what might have happened: I recently hatched 10 FBCM eggs. Nine of them are black and one is white. They hatched two weeks ago and the white one seems to be completely...

Bullying following death in the flock

An update: the BO was bullied and starved by the rooster, and ended up dying. Since this happened, the flock has gone back to normal. Before the incident, and since, the rooster has been completely docile - toward the other hens, adults, and children.

Bullying following death in the flock

A few weeks ago, one of my two Buff Orpingtons was taken by a hawk. Immediately thereafter, my Ancona rooster began bullying the remaining BO, with other hens often joining in. Here is a video from a camera in my coop: Any ideas about what to do?

    Early egg laying frequency?

... and today came another. The double yolk must have been for Friday and Saturday:) Here they are - the empty shell of the first egg, and the second.

    Early egg laying frequency?

Thanks, everyone. My pullets are 122 days old today. The green egg in the photo came from one of them - an Easter Egger or a Whiting True Green (I suppose it could have come from either breed?) at 119 days (17 weeks). I am still awaiting a second egg. Here is a picture of the first egg, and...

    Early egg laying frequency?

Hi, One of my 14 hens started laying on Friday. The egg was olive green, with a double yolk. I am curious about typical early laying patterns - ie - how quickly do chickens 'ramp up' to full production? The hen was either an Ameraucana or a Whiting True Green. Many thanks!
