    Chicken can’t walk...

Thanks everyone. We won’t be getting or performing autopsy. It’s pretty evident it’s in pain and it’s hard enough just putting her down. Again, thanks for all the info. We feel we’ve done what we could.

    Chicken can’t walk...

UPDATE: Spoke with a good friend who has over 200 free range chickens and from today’s description she says she prob has something stuck in her gizzard or a tumor, as she has experienced this in the past many times. Sadly, Arya is exhibiting signs of pain, constant shaking and pushing, we will...

Thank you!! Giving her vitamins and electrolyte solution. How would i give her Tums? Do i crush them up and put in water or food?

    Chicken can’t walk...

She doesn’t seem to be in distress. Not too many aviary vets around area, but lots of BYC ppl. I’m pretty much convinced it’s Marek’s since i addressed the prolapsed vent and she’s finally pooping but can’t walk. She has stopped eating and drinking now. See poop pic in link

    Chicken can’t walk...

She hasn’t moved from her previous location in abt 4h. No longer eating or drinking. Gave her fluids awhile ago with some pedialyte. Don’t think we’re going to have a good outcome, especially if not eating and drinking and crop feels fine.:hit

    Chicken can’t walk...

I gave her medicated food as i was told on another site to do so. I have stopped that and went back to the original layer feed i was giving her. She also eats dried meal worms and some grains. After further inspecting her this am it looked like she has a prolapsed vent so i went thru the...

Also, she’s eating and i think drinking, but no obvious poop after 2 days in cage. Just looked at her vent and it looks fine

    Chicken can’t walk...

Approx 6 mos old Wyandette. This probably started a couple weeks ago but i didn’t notice that she had a bum leg until i saw her walking one day. First thing i noticed was she wasn’t moving around as much as my other chicks, being kind of hunkered down. I posted on a local site and she has...

    How much...

How often do you feed chickens extra things like kitchen scraps or treats? I was told to stick to layer feed for my 6 month old rhode island reds and brown leg horns and only give a handful of meal worms every other day. They are in a coop, not free range. Should i also be throwing out...

Rhode Island Reds or New England Reds- Roos or Hens

We have three of these chickens and they all look alike. One is significantly larger. They are 12 weeks old. None of these have tried to crow, but the large one is constantly making noises. Thanks!. This is Zebra, the largest. Has always been larger even though same age. . Not a very good...

Brown Leghorns - Roos or Hens?

We have three brown leghorns. We know one is a rooster because he tries to crow. The other one we're not sure about. They are 12 weeks old. Thanks!. This is the one we're not sure about because he hadn't tried crowing. . This is the one we think is a girl . This is Kellog. A definite rooster

    Strange behavior?

Outside temp was abt 72 and we have great ventilation in the coop. So, idk. My dad said he thinks that's just how they cool off. This is inly their second day in the coop and before that they were in our house/laundry room because it was soooo cold outside (20s/30s)

    Strange behavior?

I have noticed two of our chicks doing this. They are 5 weeks old. They will be running around and then plop on their side, spread a wing and stick a leg out. When i approach them they jump up and run. Any ideas?
