My Silkie is brooding, she hatched one chick a little more than a month ago and it just disappeared only two days after hatching. No signs of it, or parts of it anywhere
I'm worried about this batch. What can I do to save this bunch?
Could the other chickens have eaten it?
First time grandma.
My female broadbreasted is 8 months old now. The male still walks around with some stumbling.
About three days ago she just stopped walking, but would stand. Now she is just sitting down and I have to bring water and food over to her.
Some how she managed to get into the coop today and she...
I noticed one of my Jersey giants limping about a week ago. I thought she was the one who got her toe stuck in the gate and kept my eye on her. I checked her leg and toes and did not see any damage.
Some days she seemed worse than others. Last night her leg is totally dead. She barely moves...
I was getting an average of 12-16 eggs per day.

It's the smallest of them all "Seabright bantom" and I have named him Napolian.
I have three other bantoms, none showing any signs of testosterone. They all are about three months old now.
I do enjoy the sound of his juvenile crow...
I ordered about 18 chicks four weeks ago. They are staying with a friend until I get my coop, and run fininshed.
The last few days I have been attacked by black flies! Their bite is horrible, and I have swollen up like crazy.
I got on the net to reasearch what might repell them as the "Off"...
I dont think that is normal at all....however I have only had one shipment and it was for 34 chicks, 4 being turkeys, and they have all done really well. Had some concern with the turkeys (they didnt eat at first) and one bantom, but after eyedropper of water she/ he is doing very well, and the...
