Amylynn is it a dry sponge during the first 18 days? Cuz i have no water in either bator but the eggs alone are producing high 40s. Should i open the 2nd vent now? In th incubator manual it said to do it at lockdown
Hand turning 2x a day for 1st 3 wks. Humidity is in the 40s first 3 wks. Just enuf water in bottom channels so its not dry. Add washcloth at lockdown, goes to 65+. I was told 75 humidity for hatching so i add water as needed.
I put a damp washcloth on the side under one of the vent holes so i can add warm water thru the hole to get it to around 75 for hatching without opening during lockdown
No there is no fan in them. They are totally still air. I have 2 different thermometers in each bator and had to drop a digital thermometer sensor in when i cant read them thru the windows. So 5 different thermometers ive been using. Humidity is high 80s after hatching starts. About 75 before.
Hmmmm... again I am new to this....just trying to follow advice ppl give...i was hoping someone else had been thru this....the bator windows get so foggy i cant even see thru them
Right. The temp is stable for 3 wks never changing more than half a degree. The first hatch i had 8 or 9 all hatch pretty close to the same time. Left them in there as advised to do. Came back to check if any more had hatched and was horrified to find temp was over 108. Both vents are open...
I dont change the thermostat since the heater is not running when this happens. I try to increase airflow thru vents but eventually have to open the bator to get it down and get the chick(s) out. Three hatches in a row, 2 different styrofoam still air incubators, same exact problem each time. If...
Yes i have a regular thermometer in the bator also and the temp spikes are bad. Plus the chick in there last night was screaming and then very weak when i pulled him out. Had been doing well before that. So do you just pull each one out quickly as they hatch?
I have a still air LG digital thermostat incubator and every time a chick hatches in there, if i don't remove it right away the temp will spike to almost 110 and humidity to 85+. Everything i read says to leave chicks in there for 24-36 hrs but i have not been able to do so with any of my...
